Successful psychotherapy can have far-reaching effects, providing a unique opportunity to make lasting changes leading to a richer, more fulfilling life. I am dedicated to helping others overcome obstacles, resolve conflicts, and live their lives to the fullest. I work collaboratively to provide insight and understanding to heal old wounds along with practical strategies to move forward. I offer hope, perspective, compassion, and practical tools to resolve both current and long-term conflicts and issues.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst with in-depth experience working successfully with adults, adolescents, children and families. I specialize in treating depression and anxiety, eating disorders, families of high-conflict divorce, survivors of trauma, relationship issues, and child and adolescent treatment. I individualize treatment based on each person's unique history, personality, and cultural background.
I co-created and co-directed the Trauma Studies Program at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, an in-depth program that explored theoretical as well as clinical perspectives on understanding and working with trauma. I also co-created and co-directed an Adolescent Suicide Prevention Program for 18 years, teaching adolescents, parents, and educators about the risks, identifying factors, treatment and prevention of youth suicide.
I have taught an array of graduate courses at Antioch University and Pepperdine University, including Domestic Violence: Child, Intimate Partner, and Elder Abuse, Attachment Theory, Dynamics and Treatment of Eating Disorders, Child and Adolescent Development, Adolescent Suicidality, Treatment of Children and Adolescents, Counseling and Psychotherapy, Psychopathology, and Adolescent Suicidality.
I have published articles in professional journals and given presentations on intergenerational transmission of trauma, adolescent suicidality, eating disorders, treating families of high-conflict divorce, grief and loss, and other clinical issues at local, national, and international conferences and conventions. I have worked extensively with families of high-conflict divorce, survivors of sexual and physical abuse and incest, eating disorders, domestic violence, and traumatic loss.
I am highly dedicated to my clinical work, which I approach with a sense of thoughtfulness, compassion, and integrity. I welcome the opportunity to work with you and look forward to providing you with a rich, rewarding, and life-changing experience.
